John Hogan, Associate Professor, Department of Geosciences and Geological & Petroleum Engineering, Missouri University of Science and Technology presents.

Petrologic investigation of an Eocambrian alkali feldspar “rhyolite dyke” in the Wichita Mountains of Oklahoma, places constraints on the tectonomagmatic evolution of the Southern Oklahoma Aulacogen, the development of monomineralic domains characteristic of “granitic fabrics”, and the ascent rate of felsic magmas. The dyke is texturally similar to a porphyritic alkali feldspar “rhyolite” but exhibits clear intrusive relationships with a medium-grained alkali feldspar granite.
